So, some come to church trying to use Christ Jesus as a means to their greedy end. They're not interested in serving the Lord, they're in for what they can get, Phil 3:19. The gospel is about a King, His Kingdom and servants He has appointed as ambassadors on earth to promote, proclaim and exeute His agenda on earth. Phil 2:21, "For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's." Many don't seek the interest of Christ, they jettison the King(Jesus) and His kingdom with ease. The church is not an avenue for carnal earthly desires, it's the Body of Christ, a Body purchased by the blood of Jesus, Acts 20:28.
